Would you like to work on cars? Are you good at practical work? If so, a career as a Light Vehicle Technician might be perfect for you.
What is it all about?
With over 32 million vehicles on the road, the demand for highly skilled mechanics to repair, maintain and keep them roadworthy will always be present. If you are technically minded this could be just the job for you. You will be diagnosing and locating vehicle faults, servicing, tuning, repairing and replacing components.
What does the training involve?
The best foundation for a career as a mechanic is through an apprenticeship. You will learn, train and earn at the same time with much of your practical experience coming from supervised work in the garage itself. You will attend our technical college at Martec training on day release to obtain your underpinning knowledge.
Like all Vocational training, the qualification is competence based. This means that it is linked to your ability to perform a range of tasks connected with your work. You will plan a programme of development and assessment with an assessor and compile a portfolio of evidence to prove your competence and knowledge.
What will I achieve?
An Institute of Motor Industry Intermediate Level Apprenticeship in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair - consisting of a Vocational Qualification, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills. You can then progress onto an Advanced Level Apprenticeship.
