Why not pursue a career as a Vehicle Fitting Technician?
What is it all about?
If you get a buzz out of taking things apart and putting them back together again quickly, then the job in Vehicle Fitting could be just right for you. You will work in a highly efficient team that can carry out anything from removing and fitting tyres, exhausts and batteries to servicing and replacing mechanical or electrical parts. You might work in a dedicated centre or workshop, where you will need to work speedily and safely in order to provide customers with a swift and professional service, often while they wait.
What does the training involve?
The best foundation for a career as a Vehicle Fitting Technician is Through an Apprenticeship. You will learn, train and earn at the same time with much of your practical experience coming from supervised work in the garage itself.
Like all work based qualifications, the qualification is competence based. This means that it is linked to your ability to perform a range of tasks connected with your work. You will plan a programme of development and assessment with an assessor and compile a portfolio of evidence to prove your competence and knowledge. You will attend Martec training once a week on day release.
What will I achieve?
An IMI Intermediate Level Apprenticeship in Vehicle Fitting consisting of a Vocational Qualification, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills. You can then progress onto an Advanced Level Apprenticeship.
